(Brownsburg, IN) WYRZ is excited to announce that it’s radio studio will now be "Hendricks Power and Indiana 811 Studio". This joint venture between Hendricks Power Cooperative and Indiana 811 began on July 4, 2023.

Hendricks Power Cooperative celebrated its 87th anniversary in 2023. It serves more than 35,000 members throughout western central Indiana and is a longtime supporter of WYRZ.

“Safety is always a top priority for us,” said Heather Thompson, Director of Marketing at Hendricks Power, “and this initiative allows us to collaborate with Indiana 811 and WYRZ to educate our membership and spread awareness.”

Indiana 811 is a non-profit corporation made up of member operators of underground facilities in Indiana, designed to reduce the number of damages to buried utilities and promote safe digging state-wide. This free service helps prevent damage incidents, personal injury and even loss of life. Indiana’s “Call Before You Dig” law (IC 8-1-26) requires everyone who digs to contact Indiana 811 at least two full working days before starting a project, After a receipt of a ticket, Indiana 811 will work with utilities to request that they mark their buried utility lines in the area of the dig site.

“Indiana 811 is pleased to support Hendricks Power Cooperative in spreading the Safe Digging Message to their customers throughout Hendricks County and beyond. Always remember to contact 811 before any digging project, big or small, by visiting or calling 811,” said Mary Patricia C. Kindt, Director of Marketing at Indiana 811.

WYRZ is a nonprofit radio station that works with area high school intern programs to give students real-world experience in radio broadcasting. WYRZ Executive Director Shane Ray said, “We are very excited for the partnership of this joint venture to support our station between Hendricks Power Cooperative and Indiana 811. WYRZ looks forward to bringing education and entertainment that Hendricks County loves from the new Hendricks Power and Indiana 811 Studio".
