Hendricks County Master Gardeners' Show Returns Saturday, April 29

36th Annual Gardening for All Ages Event

(Danville, Indiana – April 3, 2023) The Hendricks County Master Gardeners have announced that their annual “Gardening for All Ages” event will be held on April 29 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Hendricks County 4-HFairgrounds & Conference Complex in Danville, Indiana.

The free-admission Gardening for All Ages show will have 46 garden-related vendors and communitygroups with plants, garden décor, bird-watching supplies, and advice to make this year’s garden your bestever. The Children’s Area will offer games, crafts and education with a theme of Pollinators, Veggies and More!

“We look forward to welcoming friends and neighbors to our 36th annual spring garden show,” saysevent co-chair Steve Somermeyer. “All of everyone’s favorite activities are returning, along with some newer additions.” Beginning at 9 a.m., four Hendricks County Master Gardeners will present educational programs,which are all also free to attend. Times , presenters and topics are:

  • 9 a.m. - Container Gardening is Fun & Easy presented by Kathe Rae
  • 10 a.m. - Beware of Jumping Worms and Spotted Lanternfly! presented by Colletta Kosiba
  • 11 a.m. - Sweetness Created by Roses and Honeybees presented by Eloisa Garza
  • 12 p.m. - Growing and Hybridizing Zinnias presented by Jackie Rosales

In addition, Tom Setser of Tom S. Trapping Services will demonstrate trapping techniques for moles at 10 a.m. and trapping techniques for chipmunks at 2 p.m. in the HCMG’s demonstration garden on the westside of Expo Hall. The Hendricks County Antique Tractor and Machinery Association will exhibit their equipment also on the west side of the Expo Hall.

Gardening For All Ages is sponsored by Dammann's Garden Center & Greenhouse Inc., Hendricks Power Cooperative, Hendricks Regional Health, Kramer Corp., Lawson & Co., Save a Tree and the Town of Danville’s Tree Advisory Committee.

The Hendricks County Master Gardeners will be distributing free vegetable and flower seeds, along with trees from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. Free trees (available on a first-come basis) will include 200 button bushes, 100 red oak, 200 bald cypress, 100 white pine and 200 gray dogwood trees.

Chomp’z Food Truck will serve fair favorites, including hamburgers, tacos, tenderloins, wraps and salads. The Hendricks County 4-H Fairgrounds & Conference Complex is located at 1900 E. Main St. in Danville, Indiana.
