FIELD TECHNICIAN - SURVEY


Banning is a civil engineering and surveying firm that offers a wide variety of services including site engineering, hydraulics and hydrology, land surveying, and asset management.  

 

We are currently seeking a FIELD TECHNICIAN to join our survey team that enjoys varied work and enjoys being outside working with your hands.  If that is you, we can TEACH YOU the rest! 


The Field Technician oversees transporting and setting up the instruments and equipment associated with surveying land and preparing the job site for a survey.  Candidate will learn to survey land: find lot/property, run instrument and rod (level and prism pole), locate all property corners, fencing, etc. and perform construction staking.   Must have basic math; able to work in heat and cold; have great attendance and a commitment to do a good job. Problem solving skills are used on this job.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Load/Unload and set up equipment for surveys.
  • Clear brush and trees away from the survey line.
  • Construction layout.
  • Assist Survey Crew Chief in all day-to-day surveying responsibilities.
  • Candidate must be able to work in a team environment and be willing to work independently on occasion.
  • Physical demands include frequent walking over rugged terrain and on steep slopes, standing, lifting and carrying objects up to 50 lbs. and some climbing.
  • Working environment includes extreme temperatures, rain, snow, sleet, and hail. May included working in, on, or near water.  Dangerous conditions include noise dust, exhaust fumes, paint, traffic hazards, noxious plants/wildlife, and disruptive people.


Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Candidate must be able to work in a team environment and be willing to work independently on occasion.
